337 Coats

“Coats for Christ” was a huge success and so many wonderful people came together last Sunday (November 8, 2009) evening here at Ascension for prayer, music, worship, and fellowship in the name of Christ. I thank everyone who participated in this worthwhile endeavor.  Pastor David Coffman gave us an inspiring message. The combined choirs from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran and Ascension, under the leadership of Marsha Cabbage, John Perry Reed, and John Sinila, carried the evening with a diverse selection of anthems and organ voluntaries. Kimberly Ellis from the Oconee County United Way gave us valuable insights into the history and mission of the  organization.  We were all grateful to the ladies of ECW who fed us before and after the service.  The list of appreciation goes on, but I believe the donation  of 337 Coats expresses it all. So often actions speak louder than words. We are reminded of these words from  St. Francis of Assisi, “Preach the Gospel, and if necessary use words.” Blessings and thank you again to all who were involved with this new outreach initiative “Coats for Christ”.
